ADA 2019: an award for Ombra by Piero Lissoni
Selected between 700 products which were nominated by 400 international brands, the new Ombra chair by Piero Lissoni is one of the designs awarded at the Archiproducts Design Awards 2019, an important award which was given last year to Lema for the Alamo table.
Now in its fourth edition, the Archiproducts Design Awards celebrates each year the excellence of design and the value of collaborations between companies and designers as that between Lema and Piero Lissoni, art director of the brand since 1994.
Result of a solid partnership, Ombra represents the brand’s quintessential discretion and the designer’s rigorous style.
A refined industrial project, it is characterized by the rarefied finely drawn architecture: the lines that form the structure in black lacquered metal, which appears light yet strong in its function and sustains the shell which harbours the seating and back. Formed by a printed sheet of rigid polypropylene, with a minimal depth, the shell is proposed in two versions: with a coating in black leather or entirely dressed in leather with a light padding. At the base of Ombra, the deep research of forms and materials which is typical of Lema’s industrial approach and which has allowed the development of a chair able to join stylistic refinement with a balanced value for money.
