Lema’s art director since 1994, after gaining a degree in Architecture from the Milan Polytechnic he set up Lissoni Associati with Nicoletta Canesi in 1986. Now with offices in Milan and New York, Lissoni & Partners develops international architecture, interior design, product design and graphic design projects, as well as providing art direction to several leading companies. Led by Lissoni himself, the studio draws on different disciplines, adopting a holistic, bespoke approach which enables it to operate with distinction in various fields while maintaining and highly recognisable style and visual identity. Characterised by its precision and simplicity, the studio's work is known for its attention to detail, coherence and elegance, with a particular focus on proportions and harmony. The studio - which is split into various fields of discipline, includes Lissoni Casal Ribeiro, which focuses on masterplans, landscape design, architecture and interior design; Lissoni Associate, whose main focus is on product design, art direction and outfitting; and Lissoni Graphx, which deals with graphic design, visual communication and brand identity. Lissoni New York, meanwhile, develops interior design projects in the US market. Lissoni’s significant architecture projects include the Gran Park Hotel in Rovinj in Croatia (2019), The Middle House, part of the Swire Hotel Group, in Shanghai (2018), the Oberoi Al Zorah Beach Resort Ajman in UAE (2017), the Oceana Bal Harbour residential project in Miami (2017), the Casa Fantini hotel on Lake Orta (2017), the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam (2012) and the redevelopment of the historic Teatro Nazionale in Milan (2009). Lissoni’s interest in the art world has seen him design a range of temporary exhibitions, such as a retrospective on the photographer Giovanni Gastel, curated by Germano Celant, at Palazzo della Ragione, and an anthology dedicated to the Renaissance painter Bernardino Luini entitled “Bernardino Luini and his Sons” at Palazzo Reale in Milan. Lissoni Associati is also a founding member of the Palazzo Te Foundation and has designed all exhibitions for the foundation since 2018. Since 2015, the studio has supported the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan by designing its exhibitions. In 2017, it became an institutional partner of the museum. Lissoni has received important awards such as the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the Compasso D'Oro ADI. He sits on the board of directors of the Museu Nazionale MAXXI in Rome and is a visiting professor and a member of the advisory board of the Milan Polytechnic University. He's also an honorary member of the Altagamma International Council. He has designed numerous projects for Lema over the years. In his role as art director, he coordinates the development and evolution of all modular systems and Lema Casa collections, in collaboration with Officinadesign Lema.
