Raw Edges

Booken: book or bookshelf?

The eclectic British duo Raw Edges interprets the concept of the bookshelf in a unique and unusual way, an integral part of LEMA’s DNA. Yael and Shay have placed the book at the center of the project as an object that, by transforming its function, reinvents itself and becomes material. Small and lightweight, the freestanding multifunctional Booken bookshelf is simultaneously a side table and a support surface.

Its essence lies in the frame supported by legs with a geometric profile. Resting on it, like classic bookmarks, are various wooden rods—moving parts on which books are hung. The bookshelf thus transforms from a vertical element to a horizontal one. Booken is also available in a wall-mounted shelf version.

Booken

Booken by LEMA, designed by Raw Edges, is a freestanding bookcase with an innovative design that transforms the book into a structural element. The lacquered ash frame with oak bookmarks supports the suspended volumes, combining lightness with a sculptural character. Suitable for both home and contract spaces, the painted steel structure ensures stability, while the open-pore finish enhances the natural grain. Easy to move and modular, Booken is sustainable and made with recyclable materials, a symbol of authentic Made in Italy by LEMA.
